In 1978, Jack and Teresa Starnes started a little part-time business selling reloading parts at local gun shows as J&T Munitions in Winchester, Kentucky. As time passed, local gun shows turned into nation-wide shows and reloading parts turned into gun parts and accessories. Their little side hustle slowly grew into a full-time business.

As time progressed, the Starnes’ grew the business. As a distributor, J&T was among the first civilian sales outlets for brands like Knights Armament, GG&G, and Magpul. As the AR15 world of accessories progressed, so grew the product line for J&T. AR15 kits became the bulk of our sales and before long, requests for rifles built with the same quality came pouring in.

Teresa and son Jesse answered the call by forming DoubleStar Corp (two Starnes’ = Double Star). DoubleStar Corp was initially founded as a rifle manufacturer, but later became and is now the umbrella over several companies including ACE Limited, this brand Training Academy, and most recently, Outlier Knife Company.

The acquisition of ACE Limited was a stroke of great luck. While searching for customers for our newest 6-position stock body, Bob Weir, founder of ACE Limited, was looking to sell his business. ACE LTD. had an already established an outstanding reputation for American-made stocks and receiver blocks for many different firearms. The marriage just made sense and in 2010, ACE LTD. came home to Winchester, KY. Since the purchase, this brand has continued to grow the ACE LTD. product line as well as update old designs with new features.

Outlier Knife Company came to fruition after the Starnes’ desire to grow this brand product line into new territory. DoubleStar Blades, recently rebranded Outlier Knife Company produces American-made knives and tools that cover all applications. Whether you are looking for a hunting knife that holds an edge for every harvest, a comfortable EDC for your daily adventures, or a razor-edged tactical knife Outlier Director, Rob Cabrera, and his team of seasoned designers has an answer ready and waiting.

Do you or your department or agency need firearms training? The DoubleStar Training Academy provides a monthly Basic AR15 Armorer’s Course right in our Winchester, KY facility. Item Availability Status

When shopping for DOUBLE STAR products with us, you will notice different availability statuses for our items. Each status indicates the current availability and ordering options for that goods. Here is what each level represents:

Available

product marked as "Available" mean that these DOUBLE STAR items are in stock in the local warehouse (Australia) and are ready for immediate shipment. Once an order is placed, it will be shipped the same day or the next working day.

Available Allow 21 Days

Items marked as "Available (Allow 21 Days)" mean that these DOUBLE STAR items are currently in stock at the Brownells Grinnell IOWA warehouse (USA) and are shipped from there to our local warehouse in Australia. Once they arrive, the goods will be shipped to your shipping address immediately. This entire process will take approximately 21 days.

Backorder Only

DOUBLE STAR products marked as "Backorder Only" mean that these products are currently not available in the Brownells Grinnell IOWA warehouse (USA) and the local warehouse in Australia. luckily it is available on backorder, which means it will be available at the Brownells Grinnell IOWA warehouse (USA) soon. but we are unable to provide the exact availability date of the goods.

In this case, we offer two options.

1. Place an Order

if you want, you can place an order. Once the product becomes available in the Brownells Grinnell IOWA warehouse (USA), orders will be shipped from there to our local warehouse in Australia. Once they arrive, the goods will be shipped to your shipping address immediately.

2. Use Notify Me Option

Wherever you see an item status as "Backorder Only", you will see a "Notify Me" button next to that status. You can sign up to receive notifications by email through the Notify Me form. Once the product becomes available, we will inform you so that you can easily place an order.

Out of Stock, No Backorder

Items marked as "Out of Stock, No Backorder" mean that these DOUBLE STAR products are currently unavailable for purchase. This indicates that these products are not available in the Brownells Grinnell IOWA warehouse (USA) and our local warehouse in Australia.
